A well known and attractive town catering to a large number of tourists annually, Benalmádena is located some 12 kilometers west of Málaga, on the Costa del Sol, between Torremolinos and Fuengirola. There are nice beaches and interesting places to visit such as the Colomares Castle, the tallest Buddhist Stupa in Europe (33 meters), an award-winning Marina and other amenities.

The climate is typically Mediterranean, with mild temperatures throughout the year, no frost in the colder months, and an annual average temperature of 19 °C. Its privileged climate and location are important conditions that ensure an almost year-round tourism activity.

Same as many of Costa del Sol towns, it is divided between an ‘Pueblo’ (old village) and ‘Costa’ (the seaside area). In this case, Benalmádena Pueblo has managed to maintain a certain degree of conventionality despite the massive amounts of buildings and residential developments that came along with the construction boom in 2003. On the other hand, Arroyo de la Miel is a busy commercial town which separates the village on the hill from the sea front. Arroyo de la Miel rapidly expanded mostly as a result of a good and efficient train service that runs between Benalmádena and Málaga.

The coastal area, with its many hotels, beaches, the Marina with excellent port facilities, a fabulous Aquarium and great nightlife makes it worth visiting, or living in.
